CROSS-CONNECTION CONTROL

Backflow Prevention
& Certification Expert

Backflow prevention is one of the most legally mandated and least understood specialties in the plumbing trades. Pipe Doctor's backflow program serves municipalities, commercial facilities, and industrial clients across NW Ohio — and we need certified testers who take the public health responsibility seriously.

The Standard

What a Certified Backflow Specialist Knows

ASSE 5110 / 5120 Certification

Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester — current, active, and maintained. You understand the hydraulic principles behind each assembly type, not just the test procedure.

Assembly Types & Applications

RPZ, DCVA, PVB, SVBA — you know which assembly is required for which hazard level and why. You don't guess. You know the code.

Differential Pressure Testing

Proper gauge setup, test cocks, and differential pressure readings. You identify a failing check valve before the customer's water supply is compromised.

Repair & Rebuild

You don't just test — you repair. Seat replacement, disc replacement, spring replacement. You carry the parts and you know how to use them.

Reporting & Documentation

Every test gets a completed report submitted to the water authority. You know the local reporting requirements and you meet them without being reminded.

Cross-Connection Survey

You can walk a commercial facility and identify cross-connection hazards. You understand the difference between a high-hazard and low-hazard connection.

The Culture

Public Health Is the Job. Own It.

This Is a Public Health Specialty

Backflow prevention exists because contaminated water can flow backward into the public supply. A failed assembly isn't a maintenance issue — it's a public health event. Pipe Doctor's backflow techs understand the stakes and work accordingly.

The Test Is Not the Job — The Result Is

Any tech can run a test. The job is knowing what the numbers mean, identifying a failing assembly before it fails completely, and repairing it on the spot. Pipe Doctor carries the parts and expects the repair to happen at the same visit.

Reporting Is Non-Negotiable

Every jurisdiction has reporting requirements. Every test gets documented. Every submission goes to the water authority on time. Pipe Doctor's reputation with municipal clients depends on this discipline.

Commercial Clients Depend on Compliance

Hospitals, restaurants, industrial facilities — they all have annual backflow testing requirements. Pipe Doctor is the company they call. We show up, we test, we repair, we report. Every time.

Your Backflow Cert Is Worth More Here.

Certified backflow testers who can also repair are rare. Pipe Doctor runs a high-volume commercial program and compensates accordingly.
