Certified Large
Water Meter Tester
Onsite portable large meter testing is one of the most specialized and least common services in the water utility trades. Pipe Doctor owns and operates a full portable test bench capable of testing meters up to 10" in the field — and we need the certified technicians who know how to use it.
The Standard
What Large Meter Testing Expertise Requires
American Water Works Association meter testing standards — you know the accuracy requirements, flow rate test points, and acceptance criteria for each meter class.
Setup, calibration, and operation of portable volumetric test equipment in the field. You understand the hydraulics of the test loop and what affects accuracy.
Compound meters, turbine meters, electromagnetic meters — you know the operating principles, failure modes, and test procedures for each type.
Low flow, mid-range, and high flow test points. You know why each matters and what a meter that passes at high flow but fails at low flow is telling you.
Safe isolation, bypass procedures, and meter handling for large commercial and industrial meters. You protect the meter and the customer's system during the process.
Complete test records with flow rates, accuracy percentages, and pass/fail determinations. Municipal clients require documentation that meets their audit standards.

Full Portable Test Bench — Provided
Pipe Doctor owns a complete portable large meter test bench capable of field-testing meters up to 10". You bring the expertise.
The Culture
Municipal Revenue Depends on Meter Accuracy.
Revenue Accuracy Is the Mission
A large commercial meter that reads 3% low on a 2-million-gallon account costs the municipality tens of thousands of dollars per year. Pipe Doctor's meter testing program exists to find those errors — accurately, documentably, and in the field without pulling the meter.
Portable Testing Is the Differentiator
Most meter testing requires removing the meter and sending it to a shop. Pipe Doctor's portable test bench does it onsite, in the vault, with the meter in place. That capability is rare and valuable. We protect it by doing it right.
Municipal Clients Require Precision
Water utilities, industrial facilities, and large commercial accounts have zero tolerance for sloppy test procedures. Every test Pipe Doctor performs is documented to audit standards. Our techs understand that the report is as important as the test.
This Is a Rare Skill — We Treat It That Way
Very few plumbing contractors in NW Ohio can perform onsite large meter testing. Pipe Doctor invested in the equipment because we found the people who know how to use it. If that's you, we want to talk.
